Fame at last

Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence 2019

We were delighted earlier this year to be awarded our Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2019, entering the 'Hall of Fame' for 5 consecutive years of excellent feedback.

This award celebrates excellence in customer and visitor experience, and is given only to establishments that consistently achieve great reviews on TripAdvisor. A huge thank you to the 364 visitors who have contributed reviews so far.

Bringing the threads together

The Coventry Tapestry at St Mary's Guildhall

The Guildhall's magnificent, late medieval tapestry was the focus of a conference in September, when a panel of academics and leading experts shared new interpretations and opinions with the large audience.

With fresh thinking presented on the manufacture, date, origins and meaning of this internationally important artwork, it is hoped the presentations will be collated for publication. There are also plans to update the display, lighting and environmental protection of the tapestry in coming months.

Air and archive

Air and Archive exhibition in the Muniment Room

The rarely seen space of the Muniment Room at St Mary's Guildhall has been chosen as a venue for a special exhibition of contemporary art.

Inspired by the room's history as an archive store, the exhibition explores themes of 'Air' and 'Archive' through diverse artworks, including a collection of named storms in jars, and one artist's interpretation of her Greek Cypriot heritage. Part of the Coventry Biennial festival, the exhibition is free to visit, Tuesdays to Fridays, until 22 November.
