A working group, including Headteachers, union representatives and Public Health colleagues have formulated a statement of support for all schools. This comes from the Local Authority perspective in light of our public duty to support schools in delivering the existing and forthcoming new PSHE/RSE guidance.
The statement has been endorsed by all of the groups associated with the working party. The major religious groups that were approached acknowledge the intent behind it and are now considering its implementation, before clarifying their position.
Should any school require any support with the implementation of SRE, please contact the Local Authority for further guidance.

The PSHE association have issued a warning against using the film "Breck's Last Game" with young people as part of their PSHE curriculum.
"The film, which has recently won a national award, has been made by Surrey, Essex, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire police forces and is being promoted to secondary schools. It's available on BBC iPlayer.
The film focuses on a tragic real life story and contains some scenes which will disturb or traumatise some young people. The film has been certified as 15 but we do not believe it is suitable for use in any PSHE classroom. From an educational perspective there are a number of reasons for not using shocking or upsetting films, stories or images."
