The English Indices of Deprivation (IoD) was updated in September 2019. This is the first direct update since 2015.
Using seven domains of deprivation, the IoD provides a set of relative measures of deprivation for small areas (Lower-Layer Super Output Areas, LSOAs) across England. Information from the seven domains are combined to produce an overall relative measure of deprivation, the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD). Together, they help to compare places across the country, to identify the most deprived areas, and to explore their changes in relative deprivation.

The data can also be explored in an interactive tool.
