Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF) update

Source: Public Health England

Public Health England (PHE) has updated the Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF) data tool. This is accompanied by a new summary for Coventry.

PHOF reflects two of PHE's priorities — 1) to increase healthy life expectancy; and 2) to reduce differences in life expectancy and healthy life expectancy between communities. The interactive data tool allows users to explore indicators that are linked to these priorities. Some of the new findings include:

  • Coventry's healthy life expectancy at birth in 2015-17 is statistically similar to England's. This applies to both male and female.
  • Infant mortality has been increasing since 2013-15. The latest data show Coventry being notably worse than England average.
  • First time entrants to youth justice system has continued to decrease since 2016. Coventry is statistically similar to national average.
  • Two measures for social isolation, one for adult social care users and one for their carers, show that Coventry is at a similar level to that of Englan
