Open green spaces such as gardens, fields, parks and woodlands are proven to induce positive feelings. And it’s not just green spaces, experiencing the vast space and raw elements of being by the sea has been reported to have beneficial effects on our mental wellbeing.

Dr Miles Richardson, Head of Psychology at the University of Derby says that “feeling a part of nature has been shown to significantly correlate with life satisfaction” and with more than 50% of the worlds population living in urban areas, lacking that tie to nature could be contributing to stress and anxiety.

We believe that happiness at work should be on the list of top priorities of all organisations, big and small, national and international.


University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire hosts 'We Care' event

Carers, patients and members of the general public are invited to UHCW's fifth 'We Care' event.  Find out more about Dementia Care, parking at UHCW, the Genome Project and much more. 

You can join the hospital from 2pm. The event will be hosted at the St Peter's Centre in Hillfields, on Thursday 12 September.

Heritage Open Days

Behind the Scenes Tour of Central Library - Friday 13 September - 2pm

Discover what goes on behind the scenes with access to areas not normally seen and learn about the building's transformation from the Locarno Ballroom and Tiffany's music venue, to a library. 

The Triumph of Siegfried Bettmann

Discover a display the life and work of Siegfried Bettmann, the founder of Triumph at Stoke Library 13-22 September during the library opening hours.

An illustrated display about the life and work of Siegfried Bettman, a Stoke resident who founded the famous Triumph company in the late 19th century. The display is presented courtesy of the Stoke Local History Group and the Coventry Society.

Join us for the World's Biggest Coffee Morning, enjoy cakes and a cuppa.

HSBC UK Let's Ride Coventry - Sunday 8 September 10am - 3pm

Bike ride

Coventry is hosting a free cycling festival with a difference on Sunday 8 September. See the city from the saddle on a traffic free circuit including the Ring Road and Cathedral Quarter. There are lots of free activities from 10am in Broadgate and in University Square by the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum. You can do as many laps of the 5km circuit as you want from 11am until 3pm. And you don’t need to be an experienced cyclist – as it's traffic free and there's a 1km option too. Bring your own bike or there are family bikes to hire in Broadgate (bring ID).


Thrive Awards

Thrive at Work is a workplace commitment with criteria and guidelines on creating a workplace that promotes employee health and wellbeing, focusing on key organisational enablers such as line manager support, attendance management, policies and procedures. In addition to health areas such as mental, musculoskeletal and physical health and promoting healthy lifestyles.

Up to 100 organisations have signed up to work towards the Thrive at work Awards in Coventry and Warwickshire.
