Schools Data Collection - Fixed Penalty Notices

As part of our statutory function when processing cases to court for non-payment of Penalty Notices we have recently identified a number of cases with incorrect addresses for parents. These have been provided to us by schools. This has led to confidential and sensitive information being sent to incorrect addresses, raising the issues of data breaches and has caused unnecessary delay in cases proceeding to court.

We ask that all Headteachers please alert school staff to the above issues and ensure staff are regularly sharing Data Collection Forms with parents to ensure updates to their records are carried out on a regular basis.

This we hope, will improve our efficiency in issuing Penalty Notices and court summons to parents and will minimise the risk of further data breaches.

The Energy Check - cold calling

We have become aware that a company called The Energy Check is once again undertaking a programme of cold calling. This time they are claiming to be an appointed auditor by the supplier to look into compliance with the Agreed Supply Capacity (ASC) supply regulations. They are also inferring in their new approach that you could be liable for a fine if you don’t send this information to them. This is not the case. They are a 3rd Party Consultant and Energy Broker that is trying to gather company supply information to attempt to sell additional services to businesses.

Should any schools calling off the CCC framework have genuine enquiries about their ASC or any other compliance issues with their utility accounts they are reminded that they can contact ESPO (Energy@Espo.org) or the supplier Total Gas & Power for free advice. The Coventry City Council Energy Management Team can also provide a tiered level of assistance and support for utilities via the Energy Management SLAs available on Oneplace. For queries please contact energymanagement@coventry.gov.uk.

Soother and Craner Educational Foundation

FAO Headteachers, Heads of Pastoral Care and all teachers who run school trips.

Trustees of the Soothern and Craner Educational Foundation wish to encourage the uptake of grants to assist with girls’ education.

A school may apply by letter, for a block grant to cover some or all of the costs for a certain number of girls in need of help, for instance, for a class field trip to Dol-y-Moch, or some other outing or activity organised by the school.
