Get your kicks and have a go on our new Footgolf course

Foot Golf thrive newsletter

The course has opened at the War Memorial Park, and looks set to be a big hit with people of all ages. It’s just like golf, but with a football, bigger holes, and your leg as the club.

“It’s a real fun family activity and yet another reason to visit our beautiful War Memorial Park this summer – hopefully with some better weather!”

“It’s very easy to take part and it really is a lot of fun – even if you’re not a footballer or a golfer!

“I’m sure it’s going to be very popular and, along with The Wave and other new attractions, will help people to get out and have fun and get a little fitter.”

The course is on the old pitch and putt site and makes an ideal venue to celebrate family events, birthdays, work outings and children’s birthday parties. It is open now, and you can see all the information you need at www.coventry.gov.uk/footgolf.

All equipment is provided, all skill levels are welcome and there is no need to book – just turn up and play! Players can play nine or 18 holes and there are discounted prices for under 16s.

Step up for 30! - Bowel Cancer Awareness UK

Step up for 30

Step up for 30 is back! It’s really simple, just get sponsored to do 30 minutes of physical activity every day for 30 days during June.

Exercise doesn’t just have to be about working out in a gym. You could walk, swim, dance, run, cycle, do yoga – the choice is yours! Choose the activity and the intensity to suit you.

It’s really easy to get involved, there’s lots of creative ways you can get active during the month - doing squats while the kettle boils, taking the stairs rather than the lift, going for a walk during your lunch break, getting off the bus a stop early or even hoola-hooping during the TV adverts!

Bowel cancer is the UK’s second biggest cancer killer but with your help we can change that. Your support will help stop people dying of bowel cancer by funding vital services and life saving research.

BNF Healthy Eating Week 2019

BNF healthy eating week

BNF Healthy Eating Week is a dedicated week annually to encourage organisations across the UK (including workplaces, universities, and schools) to focus on healthy eating and drinking, and physical activity, and celebrate healthy living.

At the heart of BNF Healthy Eating Week are five health challenges:

  • Have breakfast
  • Have 5 A DAY
  • Drink plenty
  • Get active
  • Sleep well - NEW for 2019

Organisations participating in BNF Healthy Eating Week usually focus on one of the challenges each day, but it's up to you to decide what your organisation will do and when. Some organisations focus on just one challenge throughout the week whereas others take on all five!

Bike Week - June 17-23

Bike Week is a great opportunity to celebrate the social, health and environmental benefits of cycling.

Our aim is to get many more people across the UK to give cycling a try, encouraging people to get out on their bikes between Saturday 8 June to Sunday 16 June 2019.

Any outing on a bike counts – whether that’s nipping round to a friend's house, cycling to work or school, enjoying a leisurely ride with the family or tackling a cycling challenge.

Cycling has many benefits and is enjoyed in many different ways, the important thing is to get outside and enjoy a ride!
