Demos-PwC published its tenth set of Good Growth for Cities Index in November 2018. The report ranks cities based on 10 indicators, which were given weighting based on a public vote. In line with last year’s report, the public voted jobs, health, income, and skills as some of the most important qualities of a city.
- There has been strong growth in UK cities overall. In the last 10 years, the average city's score has increased significantly, “more than recovering from the decline associated with the recession triggered by the global financial crisis.”
- Coventry's index score increased, and achieved the same ranking as last year's, which is the eighth highest out of 42 UK cities. The chart below summarises Coventry's scores over the last 10 years.
- Compared to other cities in the Index, Coventry's main strengths include its lower unemployment rate and higher number of new businesses.
