 Sarginsons
Industries Ltd is a lightweight castings business based in Coventry, supplying
products for a range of major companies – such as Aston Martin and Jaguar Land
Rover. The company has invested £130,000
in new energy efficiency measures at its foundry, £26,365 of this was through
grant funding from the Green Business Programme.
Sarginsons applied for a grant from the Coventry and Warwickshire Green
Business Programme which is part financed by the European Regional Development
Fund and is being delivered by Coventry City Council, Coventry University and
Coventry University Enterprises Ltd. The
investment has seen Sarginsons electricity consumption drop from an average of 4,000
units per week to a steady 3,000 units per week, resulting in a yearly average
drop of 25% and a saving of £4,600 per month. Read more...

Building Design Principles - A Walking Tour
18 October 2018 – Coventry University
This free to attend one day event,
run in partnership with Coventry University, will include a city tour of interesting
buildings with green design features that are operated by Coventry City Council
and Coventry University. The tour includes One Friargate, Whitefriars Monastery and various Coventry University buildings that have received awards for their sustainable designs. Attendees
will discover and learn about the main
principles of sustainable building design within an office and manufacturing environment. The event will cover natural
ventilation, Passivhaus design, thermal mass, efficient space utilisation,
renewable technology, district heating and refurbishment solutions for hard to

 The road to zero emission cars
The Office for Low Emission Vehicles and Innovate UK have £4 million available to support one
high value, exceptional large research and development (R&D) project. This
is to enable industry-led research into on-vehicle technologies that accelerate
the transition to zero emission vehicles in the UK and globally. They are
particularly interested in integrated systems that enable zero emission journeys
for cars and other vehicles. The project must also focus on power electronics,
machines and/or drive technologies and there is an expectation that the
project innovation will have a viable route to market in support of the future

to help you get involved in the week, with ideas and tips to host your own
