2018 Child Health Profile

Source: Fingertips, Public Health England

Public Health England has published the annual Child Health Profiles for 2018. The interactive tool allows for at-a-glance comparisons of child health statistics between Coventry and other regions. Here are some of the key statistics:

  • The infant mortality rate for Coventry has started rising slightly after a downwards trend that started from 2007-2009. Despite so, Coventry is performing better than the West Midlands region, with no significant difference from national figures.
  • Coventry's rate of hospital admissions caused by injuries in children (0-14 years) is significantly higher than national figures. Overall, this indicator has been on an increasing trend since its introduction in 2010/2011, widening the gap with the national average as the latter decreases.
