Big name urban artists have been added to Coventry Godiva
Festival’s Rhythm Tent line up for 2016.
Coventry’s own Mugun, popular grime artist Jevon, duo Jaykae
& Sox, and East London rapper, Jay Prince will join the tent’s headliner, D Double E, and support
artist Yungen, on Saturday 2 July in the War Memorial Park.
D Double E is a grime artist from East London who first made
his name in N.A.S.T.Y Crew (Natural Artistic Sounds Touching You). He is also
part of Newham Generals and was voted one of MTV UK’s Top MCs 2010. He will
follow last year’s headliner, JME.
Support artist Yungen is a South London rapper who first
made a name for himself after a famous SB.TV freestyle.
With the line up now almost complete, Godiva Festival’s organisers are hoping that this year’s Rhythm Tent line up will prove just as popular as last year’s.
Lee House, Godiva Festival’s artistic director, said: “Last year, we had a great response to JME and The Wombats on the Saturday night, so with The Charlatans and D Double E, we’re hoping that people will enjoy it just as much.”
“We’ve announced most of the musical line up now, with the bands we have for our Rock Tent on the Friday set for announcement on the first week in June! It’s shaping up to be a great festival and we hope everyone enjoys the weekend!”
The event is organised by Coventry City Council, supported by festival partners, Free Radio and Jaguar Land Rover and delivered in association with Deliveroo, BBC Coventry and Warwickshire, Radio Plus and backed by the Coventry 2021 UK City of Culture Bid.
