We have announced that The Boomtown Rats will take the headline slot on Friday night at this year’s Godiva Festival, supported by Space.
The Boomtown Rats are an Irish band with hits from the late 1970s and early 1980s. They are most famous for their 1978 No.1 hit “Rat Trap” and 1979 No.1 hit “I Don’t Like Mondays”, and known for having several other songs reach the top ten in the UK Top 40 Singles. Supporting The Boomtown Rats will be Space, a band from Liverpool who became known in the mid-1990s with hit singles such as “The Ballad of Tom Jones”, “Neighbourhood” and “Female of the Species”. We have approved an expansion to Plas Dol-y-Moch which will ensure a long–term commitment to the service. With the city-owned Plas Dol-y-Moch celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, councillors approved a £500,000 capital investment to enable the centre to be expanded. Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust and Coventry Infant Feeding Team have been awarded the Unicef Baby Friendly Award for the support they provide to Coventry mums. Lord Mayor, Cllr Michael Hammon, met the teams, along with a group of mums who had benefitted from the service, and presented them with their award. Read more...

We have enforced the clearance of two highly overgrown gardens in the northeast of the city. Officers from the Planning Enforcement Team initially inspected the properties in Wyken Avenue and Purcell Road in 2014 after they received complaints that both the front and rear gardens of the properties were overgrown.
