Winter can be tough on our health, but there’s plenty of support available locally to help you and your family stay well.
Health partners across Cheshire West and Chester are reminding residents to:
✅ Check your vaccines – make sure you’re up to date with any seasonal jabs you’re eligible for.
🩺 Book a health check if you haven’t had one recently.
🏠 Know your local support venues – from community centres to health hubs, there are places nearby ready to offer advice and help.
Taking these simple steps now means you can enjoy the season with peace of mind, knowing you’re protected and supported.
Thanks to £271,000 of developer funding, parks and open spaces across Ellesmere Port have had a major makeover, including:
- A brand‑new drainage and pitch renovations to FA standards, meaning fewer cancelled games and better playing conditions.
- A one‑kilometre route with distance markers and signage, ideal for walking, jogging, or a quick workout in the fresh air.
- Improved paths and Greenspace upgrades.
These changes are all about encouraging physical activity, social connection, and time in nature - making our local parks places to enjoy all year round.
The Council has signed a Pre‑Development Agreement to deliver the next phase of Chester Northgate, creating over 400 sustainable homes, including affordable housing, alongside new public spaces and infrastructure. The scheme will re‑purpose existing buildings and open up a forgotten quarter around Hamilton Place, linking it to Chester’s vibrant retail, leisure and cultural destinations.

On Monday, 1 December, it was announced that Cheshire West and Chester Council had scooped the Bronze Sustainable Food Places Award, celebrating the work of the West Cheshire Food Partnership to build a fairer, healthier and more sustainable food system.
We stood out nationally because we are:
|
- Embedding lived experience into decisions across the local food system, ensuring voices from our communities shape the work.
- Growing our Food Partnership sub‑groups, focusing on themes like eating well, growing well and starting well.
- Providing strategic leadership, representing the local food system at key meetings and boards.
- Delivering comprehensive training, giving members the skills and knowledge to make a real difference.
Explore ways to get involved, or use the interactive map to find local food banks if you need support.
