Free Early Education Entitlement – Staff Contacts

Staff contacts must be kept up to date on the Portal. The Free Entitlement Contract Signatory is particularly important as this is who we send the FEEE contract to and cannot make payments without a contract in place. The same person may be listed several times if they fulfil different roles within your setting e.g. Manager who is also the Designated Safeguard Lead.

Infant Vulnerability Conference: Implications for the first 1001 days

*BOOKINGS NOW OPEN*  Thursday 28th November 2024 The ‘Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel Annual Report 2022/23: Patterns in practice, key messages and 2023/24 work programme’ tells us: “Babies under the age of 12 months old comprised the single largest age group within the sample of rapid reviews”. Infant vulnerability is a recurring serious safeguarding issue, requiring all professionals to increase their knowledge and skills in this area of practice. “Two is too late! …The building blocks for lifelong emotional and physical health are laid down in the period from conception to the age of two and we don’t give this critical period the focus it deserves”. Join us in person for a FULLY INTERACTIVE CONFERENCE DAY supported by the NSPCC. Cheshire East Children's Safeguarding Partnership are hosting a variety of special guest speakers and information stalls at Middlewich Canalside Centre. Together we will explore appropriate responses and interventions. Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements: Focus on...

Providers must have and implement a policy, and procedures, for administering medicines to children. Medicine (both prescription and non-prescription) must only be administered to a child where written permission for that particular medicine has been obtained from the child’s parent and/or carer.

Ofsted have updated the Early Years inspection handbook including clarification of references to funded places and what should be considered on inspection.

Planning Your Future Events

Please promote the two Planning Your Future Events with your SEND students and their families.

The Planning Your Future Events have been arranged by the SEND Transition Team in response to a request from Parent Carer Forum (PCF) to offer additional advice and support for young people with SEND (0-25yrs) and their families on key topics/focus areas linked to preparing for adulthood.

The aim of these events is to showcase the post 16 services available within education, employment, adult social care, health and community services and to encourage discussions to start as early as possible regarding preparing for adulthood.

Pupils with an Education Health and Care (EHC) Plan transitioning to Primary School in September 2025

Letters have been sent out to parents and carers of children with an EHC Plan who are due to move to a new phase of education in September 2025. The letter explains ways to inform the SEND Team of their preferences for the next phase of education. Should parents/carers wish to advise the local authority of their preferences prior to the autumn term annual review, then there is a link in the letter to submit their choices.

Please start planning for the autumn term EHCP transition annual reviews for N2 pupils in order to support the SEND Team with timely consultations in line with the statutory deadline.

SENCO Network - 24th September 2024 18:30 - 20:00 (Microsoft Teams)

These network sessions are intended to further develop your SENCO's understanding, knowledge and skills. At these meetings there will be opportunities for discussion with other SENCO’s, networking, sharing of effective practice/materials, input from other agencies and updates on new legislation/initiatives. Attendance at each termly network is highly recommended to keep your SEND knowledge up to date.

EYFS - Learning and Development Requirements and Assessment - 25th September 2024 10:00 - 11:30 (Microsoft Teams)

This course will explore Section 1 - ‘The Learning and Development Requirements’ and Section 2 - ‘Assessment’ of the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework for group and school-based providers. This training looks at the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and offers useful links and information to take back to the setting when considering curriculum, assessment and Ofsted expectations.

Childcare Grants Briefing - 25th September 2024 13:00 - 14:00 (Microsoft Teams)

Briefing to launch revenue and capital funding to support the National Wraparound Programme and the extended Early Education Entitlements within Cheshire East. The briefing will include information on how providers can prepare their application and the allocation process for the available capital and revenue funding. The funding is intended to create new places and not to sustain existing provision.

Trauma and Attachment in Early Childhood - 25th September 2024 18:00 - 20:00 (Microsoft Teams)

Join us to explore trauma and attachment in early childhood, delivered by an Educational Psychologist. This training will cover attachment theory related to early childhood, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and what they are, the impact of trauma on young children and attachment awareness and trauma informed practice in early years settings.
