Have you been enjoying some nicer weather while exploring the Cheshire East countryside?
The warmer weather has led to many more butterflies being on the wing at our countryside sites, including this beautiful green hairstreak butterfly photographed by Ranger Martin at Tegg's Nose Country Park earlier this week. Find out more about this iridescent beauty via the Butterfly Conservation website. What butterflies have you seen during your walks around our sites?
At a number of our sites, in the north of Cheshire East, including Tegg's Nose Country Park and Macclesfield Riverside Park, the Bollin Valley Partnership conservation grazing cattle have returned to help manage our species rich grasslands. This low-level grazing helps us to improve the diversity of these sites and increase the number of wildflowers.
Please do keep your dogs under close control around livestock whenever you are enjoying a walk in the countryside. Learn more about the #OpRecall campaign, which is helping to end livestock attacks, via the Naturewatch Foundation website.
This June's events are a great mix of walks, water sports, climbing, conservation tasks and nature themed activities! We hope to see at some of our events this June.
