Sign up to the new Early Years Training Hub
All Early Years Providers should now have received their invitation to sign up to the new Cheshire East Early Years Training Hub. All training will be available to book via the new Hub only and so it is important that you complete the sign up process immediately.
You can access the new hub via this link: Chess Early Years Training Hub (sla-portals.co.uk). Please click on the ‘Sign up’ link at the top right of the page.
There are 2 access levels:

Training Manager – Full access to the training module to enable the user to book courses for themselves and others with ability to checkout training shopping basket.

Staff - Ability to book courses for self. Any training booked will require checking out by the person with the relevant financial authority to confirm the place.
In the first instance the person whose name is on the credit card and has the financial authority to complete the checkout process and make payments should sign up. Please make this clear in the ‘Reason’ box on the sign up form by stating they are the ‘Training Manager’ for the setting.
All other members of staff are also able to sign up and you should make it clear in the ‘Reason’ box that these require ‘Staff’ access level.
Once your sign up form has been submitted we will activate your account.
Once activated you will be able to see information about any training opportunities by clicking on the specific link on the home page or under the ‘Training and Events’ tab. We will be adding more dates all the time so please check regularly. You will be able to see what resources and documents are available under the ‘Resources’ tab very soon too.

Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements - 14-March 4pm via Teams
This training explores the ‘must’ and ‘should’ elements of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. It encourages practitioners to recognise their role in the broader picture of keeping children safe and offers useful links and information to take back to the setting when considering inspection and Ofsted expectations.
Julian Grenier - Session 5 for SENCOs (Leadership and Management programme) - 15-March 9.30am via Teams
This is session 5 of our Leadership and Management programme for early years leaders. During this session for SENCo's Julian Grenier will discuss embedding the 7 key features of effective practice and how they benefit children with additional needs, early identification and intervention, inclusive practice in action, the unique child recognising progress and leading by example.
Making sense of Autism - Tier 1 - 16th March 9.30am via Teams
A really useful session that will ensure participants will know the importance of understanding the individual child on the autism spectrum and their profile of strengths and weaknesses and be able to identify the four key areas of difference that need to be taken into account when working with children on the autism spectrum. Attendees will also be able to identify the key areas to help children on the autism spectrum build positive relationships with staff and their peers and be aware that many children on the autism spectrum can be unusually sensitive to everyday sights, sounds, touch, tastes and smells which can affect their learning and emotional state.
What is my behaviour trying to tell you? 16th & 23rd March 1.30pm or 6.30pm via Teams
Do you need to get curious about children’s behaviour?
This 2-part training is suitable for all practitioners who work in early years.
The training draws on the latest research to help us understand children’s behaviour and plan to support them. The sessions will help you to consider behaviour in a new light, understand attachment, develop strategies and approaches, build your PSED curriculum and embed a behaviour conversation as a whole team approach.
Let's Talk Twos - dealing with feelings 17th March 9.30am via Teams
Join us as we take a roller-coaster ride into the emotional world of 2-year-olds. Let’s explore ways to support children who are experiencing strong emotions. What does co-regulation look like in your setting? How to make sure we are creating an emotional environment that’s right for 2’s . We will be finding out how health visitors can help us work with parents to support children’s emotions at home.
