Do you care about access to the countryside? The Countryside Access Forum is an independent advisory group providing advice to the local authority and their partners on countryside access issues, including public rights of way.

Newgate Local Nature reserve is an often-forgotten jewel within our local countryside. Although a relatively new site, it is already rich in wildlife.
We are lucky enough to have the knowledge and expertise of local ecologist John Handley to guide us around the nature reserve exploring the different habitats, learning about the areas landscape history including Lindow Common.

Tuesday, 5th July - Pram Fit / Outdoor Fitness Taster Class
A fantastic way to get back in shape, after the birth of your child, with personal trainer Kelly Morley. Pram Fit takes place every Tuesday, join us for your first taster class for FREE (further sessions are £6 each week).
Anyone can come to the class at any level of fitness. No experience needed. Any pram is fine, and the even better news is that you don’t need childcare as you bring your baby with you. There are a variety of exercises including toning, cardio and sometimes the boxing gloves come out for some fun!

Sunday, 10th July - Foraging Workshop and Balsam Bashing
Alongside our regular balsam bashing events we are trialling a partnership with Forager Jim, from Forage Box, who will be running a foraging section of the event for a heavily discounted price. All we ask in return is that you help out by pulling up a little balsam.
This workshop is designed to get you as involved as possible - this includes identifying, picking and tasting a range of wild plants that will be found on the day, along with as much Himalayan Balsam removal as you like!

A leisurely morning walk enjoying the wildflowers and butterflies of the reserve. The wildflower meadows look superb at this time of year and include several different species of orchid. A slow-paced walk of around 1.6km (1 mile).

Wednesday, 13th July - Bitesize Gritstone Trail – Walk 7 – Rushton Spencer circular
Sample some of the finest walking in Cheshire on these bitesize circular walks along parts of the Gritstone Trail, the 56km / 35 mile trail through Cheshire’s Peak District.
Part 7 of a series of 11 walks exploring sections of the Gritstone Trail. A circular walk of 8.4km (5.25 mile) from Rushton Spencer.

Join Geologist Kate Riddington and Tegg’s Nose Country Park Ranger Martin James to explore the geological history of the park and wider Cheshire Plain.
We will walk the ‘Tegg’s Nose Rocks!’ trail and help you to spot evidence of recent Ice Ages or ripples from a river flowing some 325 million years ago! It's easy walking, with lots of interesting geology to explore.

Sunday, 24th July - Tegg's Nose Bilberry Pick
Healthy, organic, tasty and free. Bilberry, blueberry, blaeberry, whin; whatever you want to call them they grow wild all over Tegg’s Nose Country Park and all you have to do is bring a container and get picking.
Totally Wild UK, will be on hand to explain the best places to look and will provide more information about where to source great local food. They’ll also be showing you how to make your own bilberry jam!
There is no charge to join us to pick bilberries during the event but if you would like to participate in the jam making, please book a place for the event so we can ensure we have enough jam pans, jars and sugar.

A great way to experience some varied exciting activities in the countryside with local experts Moorland Adventure! Each day focuses on different activities and will give you a taste of adventure! Suitable for anyone between the ages of 8 and 16. Booking and payment in advance is essential. All day 2 and 4 participants must be "Water confident".

Please bring a packed lunch and drinks with you each day or you can purchase a packed lunch option (including sandwich, drink and snack) from Tegg’s Nose Tea Room on days 1 and 5.
