Using data from 06 March 2022, there have been:
- 1447 cases in the previous 7 days
- 1127 cases in the prior 7 days (up to 27 February)

Cyber resilience in education and childcare settings
Although there has been no evidence of increased attacks on the sector, as a result of the current situation in Ukraine, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is advising all organisations to take action to strengthen their cyber security resilience.
Guidance published on their site includes the following steps:
- patching systems
- improving access controls and enabling multi-factor authentication
- implementing an effective incident response plan
- checking that backups and restore mechanisms are working
- ensuring that online defences are working as expected
- keeping up to date with the latest threat and mitigation information

The Cheshire East Easter 2022 holiday activity programme - information to share with parents
Cheshire East Council has teamed up with a number of local schools, childcare and holiday club providers, community and voluntary organisations, to provide free fun activities during the Easter holidays. The activities are available across Cheshire East for children and young people who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals (FSM). The holiday clubs will enable children and young people to enjoy fun activities with friends, whilst learning and developing new skills.

New Vodcast on Ofsted inspections and the new EYFS
The Department for Education have published a new vodcast on Ofsted inspections under the new EYFS.
Gill Holden, Principal Officer for the Early Childhood Unit at the National Children’s Bureau (NCB), speaks to Phil Minns HMI and Wendy Ratcliff HMI about Ofsted’s approach to inspection and what settings can expect. Gill then speaks to Katrina Rose from Little Acorns Nursery and Natalie Willcock from Corby Glen Community Primary School about their recent experiences of Ofsted inspection, from the initial notification of inspection, the inspectors' focus on the day and their top tips for other settings.

Cheshire East Information Advice and Support Service consultations for families
Please find below the following information from the CEIAS service to support families of children with additional needs in your setting:
- New enquiry consultations
- Quick guide to transition into primary school
Hanen training for nurseries funded by EEF and DfE
Would you like FREE training for your nursery staff?
- Which supports the Speech, Language and Communication skills of children
- Aligns with the new OFSTED and EYFS framework changes
- And fits alongside many targeted SLC focused interventions like WellComm, ICAN Talk Boost and Elklan.
Nurseries across the North, Midlands and the Humber are being invited to take part in an efficacy trial testing a training programme known as Learning Language and Loving It—The Hanen Program® for Early Childhood Educators. The project is funded by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) and Department for Education.
Nurseries who sign up to take part will be randomly allocated to either receive the fully funded Hanen training or carry on business as usual. The Business as usual group will receive £1,000 for taking part in the trial.
Nurseries receiving the training will benefit from:

High quality and internationally researched training that provides guidance for early years practitioners in promoting social, language and literacy learning in early years settings

An approach which enhances the everyday language learning environment for every child in the setting, including children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs, those with or at risk of delay, second-language learners and typically developing children

Funded CPD opportunity for 2/3rds of staff who work with pre-school children in your setting

1:1 personalised coaching from speech and language therapists and early years experts
- Reimbursements for 50% of cover costs for workshop attendance
- Opportunity to inform practice in a national evaluation of what works in early years

FEEE Summer Term Data - All FEEE Providers and Administrators
The Provider Portal will open for the Summer term data to be entered on 11 March 2022. It will close again on Sunday 27 March 2022. Any data entered after this date will result in a late interim payment.
If you have any adjustments or new children to add for the Spring term, please email them to the FEEE Team who will add these for you.
You will also be able to view your rates for 2022-2023.
