People are being invited to try out Charnwood’s leisure centres following the completion of £1 million investment into improvement works.

Charnwood Borough Council and its leisure partner Fusion Lifestyle have completed a range of improvements at Loughborough, Soar Valley and South Charnwood leisure centres.

To give everyone a chance to try out the new state-of-the-art facilities and get their fitness journey started, Fusion is offering a free three-day pass to each of the centres.

The three sites have received significant investment in new gym equipment including Life Fitness cardio machines with built in TVs, virtual outdoor runs and games with Apple watch connectivity.

All three centres in the borough also have new gym layouts, lighting and flooring. In addition, a further £150,000 has been invested in LED lighting across the three sites to help reduce carbon emissions.

New purpose spin studios have been created at Loughborough and Soar Valley and a new holistic studio and sauna have been installed at Loughborough.

Cllr Leigh Harper-Davies, the Council’s lead member for community support said: “It’s fantastic that all three centres have received some upgrades with new equipment and stylish new décor.

“This £1 million investment ensures that each centre can continue to provide our communities with the very best leisure facilities and value for money.

“I would like to thank people for their patience while works were being completed. I hope residents can make use of the free three-day pass on offer and enjoy checking out the improvements across all three centres.”

Improvements at Loughborough Leisure Centre also include new spin bikes and refurbishments to exercise studios and the pool-side corridor.

At Soar Valley Leisure Centre in Mountsorrel, the exercise studio has been refurbished and new Bodypump equipment has been installed. There is also a dedicated spin bike studio and a fresh new look with stylishly updated décor, flooring, and lighting.

Facilities at South Charnwood Leisure Centre now include a free weights area in the refreshed gym studio including Olympic and adjustable benches and dumbbells. New spin bikes and exercise studio upgrades, together with brand new flooring at reception and corridors complete the transformation at the centre in Syston.

Anthony Cawley, CEO of Fusion Lifestyle, commented: “After a testing couple of years in our industry, we are so delighted that with this significant investment, the local community can continue to enjoy all our wonderful newly upgraded facilities.

“At Fusion, it’s our mission to provide quality sport, leisure and fitness activities to the community and this investment into such state-of-the-art equipment will ensure the centres offer top of the range facilities for many years to come.”
