Much progress has been made against Coronavirus and businesses in Charnwood have worked hard to implement the necessary Covid-19 safe practices and protect both their employees and customers. You have suffered 3 national lockdowns over the past 12 months but the government roadmap is now in place and there are 4 steps that we must cautiously all follow, to emerge from lockdown safely.
Although the vaccination programme is continuing to be a huge success, there is still a large number of the population that is not vaccinated and if guidance is not followed infection rates can begin to increase. Therefore, it is essential that businesses continue to play their part in controlling the spread of this disease.
From April 12, 2021 Covid restrictions will ease and hospitality businesses can begin to reopen outside seated areas to customers. Businesses must continue to ensure their workplaces are Covid-secure. The government guidance has been updated to prepare you for your reopening. From May 17, 2021 customers can return to your Covid-secure indoor seated settings.
It is advisable to review your existing risk assessment to ensure that your current Covid-19 safeguards are still effective or may need improving.
Over the next few weeks Charnwood Borough Council will be carrying out advisory visits to business to offer support and guidance on the new regulations and guidance.
We will be focussing on the following areas:
- Covid-19 risk assessments and control measures identified
- Cleaning, handwashing and hygiene procedures
- Social distancing safeguards for employees and customers (2m or 1m + mitigation)
- Customer Track and Trace procedures
- Outdoor and indoor seating areas
- Toilet facilities
- Ventilation
