Queen's Park play area and public toilets closed
Work has started to replace the sandpit in the Queen’s Park play area which means the New Street entrance, play area and public toilets at Queen’s Park will be temporarily closed from today while the improvement works are carried out.
The New Street entrance and toilets will be closed for just over a week and should reopen on Monday July 27. Visitors can still access the park through both Browns Lane and Granby Street entrances during this time and toilet facilities are still available in the Market Place.
The play area will be out of action for up to four weeks.
Unfortunately, these temporary closures are necessary to allow more space for our contractors to work safely and ensure they can observe social distancing. We also want to ensure the safety of residents and little ones while machinery is being used on site.
We know this will be disappointing after the play area and toilets have already been closed during lockdown and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.
We were unable to complete this work during lockdown as our contractor had temporarily stopped manufacturing the materials required for the sandpit.
