Consultation over key planning policy to end soon

Time is running out to have a say in a consultation about Charnwood Borough Council’s draft local plan which will guide growth and development until 2036.
The draft plan sets out how the Council will balance future growth in the area while making sure the environment is looked after and communities have the infrastructure they need.
The consultation runs until 5pm on Monday December 16, 2019. Residents, parish and town councils, businesses, other agencies and communities in general, including schools and GP surgeries are being urged to have a say.
Eye-catching buildings in Charnwood scoop design awards

The very best of building design in Charnwood has been honoured.
Charnwood Design Awards, run by the borough Council, recognise high-quality building design and the excellent work of owners, agents and contractors.
The 2019 winners, revealed at an awards ceremony, are Loughborough University Student Village, Fowke Street, Rothley and Mountsorrel Memorial Centre.
Residents save average of £269 on energy bills

Residents who signed up to the Charnwood big Switch have saved an average of £269 a year on their energy bills with the first auction.
Earlier this year the borough council introduced ‘Charnwood Big Switch’ a collective switching scheme to help residents get a better deal and change energy suppliers with ease.
