Early Years

Our free* Introduction to Working in an Early Years Setting course is a great way to learn what it’s like to work as an early years practitioner, through a mixture of classroom learning and practical work placement.

The Academy at Central Bedfordshire Council deliver the programme over four weeks, comprising of four half-day classroom-based sessions led by one of our experienced assessors, and a voluntary placement at the hosting early years setting to help put the learning to practice and get some hands-on experience.

If the voluntary placement goes well, you could be offered a 7 hour per week placement so that you can complete the Level 2 Early Years qualification.

We have two upcoming courses, both starting on Friday 10th June for four consecutive weeks, 9.30am – 12pm, at:

  • The Vale Academy in Dunstable, or
  • Rushmere Park Academy in Leighton Buzzard.

*You must be at least 19 years old, unemployed, and actively looking for work. Alternatively, you may be looking for more sustainable employment, but have not achieved a Level 2 qualification (or higher) previously.
