Going out this weekend?

table service

If you're going out or meeting up with friends this weekend, our local restaurants, pubs and cafes are looking forward to welcoming you back. They have worked hard to provide safe and healthy outdoor environments for you.

Outdoor hospitality venues, such as pubs and restaurants, can now open to groups of six people or two households. Those that serve alcohol must provide table service.

Social distancing is still very important. You should stay 2 metres apart from anyone who is not in your household or support bubble where possible, or 1 metre with extra precautions in place (such as wearing face coverings) if you cannot stay 2 metres apart.

You should follow the guidance on how to stop the spread of coronavirus at all times, including if you have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

To stay safe remember to follow the essentials, wash your hands regularly, wear a mask, maintain social distancing and remember outdoors is safer.

COVID-19 health advice

Be a super shopper and reduce your chances of catching COVID-19 when shopping

Non-essential shops

It’s great we can get back to our favourite shops this weekend. However, this could be the only time you come into contact with people outside your household, increasing the risk of catching or spreading COVID-19.

So stay safe by following our Super Shopper guide.

  • wash or sanitise your hands before and after you shop
  • wear a face covering
  • keep your distance from others. There is very little risk to you if you are just passing by someone briefly in a shop. But try to keep a distance of 2 metres as much as possible
  • pay by card instead of cash - contactless payment may reduce the risk of infection. If you use cash, the risk is low, particularly if you clean your hands regularly after handling cash

Free testing kits delivered to your home

You can also use the Government’s new home ordering service, which allows you to order lateral flow tests online to be delivered to your home or collect tests through participating local pharmacies. Find out more on the GOV.UK website.
