Launching Luton and Bedfordshire's Neuro Developmental (NDD) Early Interventon, Support and Assessment Pathway

We have worked with parents and a range of our partners in health, education and social care to create a pathway to help children who may have developmental difficulties. We have set out the steps that will be taken to get your child or young person assessed for a possible neurodevelopmental difficulty or disorder either by referring to community health services or the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). This may be a condition such as Autism or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), a learning disability or another developmental condition.

However, just because your child may have been referred does not necessarily mean they will go through all the steps of that pathway or that they will receive a diagnosis of a neurodevelopmental difficulty or disorder. It just means they and your family will be able to get the right help at the right time from the right professionals and services, to support your child’s development.

If you have concerns about your child’s development and think that it is possible they have a neurodevelopmental difficulty, the pathway signposts to a wide range of information and support services that you can try before you need to seek help from a professional like a GP, health visitor or from a child’s nursery or school.

For example, if you are concerned about your child’s sleep, behaviour, sensory issues or speech, language and communication, information can be found by clicking on the sections related to these on the Neurodevelopmental Disorder Pathway

SNAP Parent Carer Forum (PCF) Annual Survey

SNAP PCF

SNAP PCF ran their annual survey to measure parental satisfaction of local SEND services between October to November 2020. We would like to thank the 636 parent carers who took the time to complete this.

SNAP PCF Steering Group has written a report to highlight the current level of parental satisfaction within Central Bedfordshire. This should be read in conjunction with the survey results which are drawn from the responses of 636 parent carers . We have compared the current survey data with that collected in November 2019, to measure any progress made.

Parents have completed the survey to reflect and share their lived experience, which must be valued, respected, and most importantly acted upon. We have reported the finding to Central Bedfordshire Council, the Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Cambridge Community Health Services, East London Foundation Trust, the Department for Education and NHS England. We will continue to push the SEND agenda for our families and work towards the improvements needed as part of the Written Statement of Action (WSoA)

For any parent carers who live in Central Bedfordshire and has a child or young person aged between 0-25 years please complete our membership form.   You can attend our training, coffee mornings, Parent Panels, receive a Max Card and a Sunflower Lanyard as well as receiving our termly newsletter and information.

Free PPE for unpaid carers

If you're an unpaid carer we are pleased to be able to offer you a range of PPE, if you need it.

Free PPE for unpaid carers

A carer is someone, including adults and children, who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is unpaid.

If you are an unpaid carer providing personal care to someone else (particularly if they are not in your household), you might want to consider using PPE to protect yourself and the person you are caring for.

We are pleased to be able to offer a range of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), if you need it. This includes protective gloves, disposable face masks, aprons and a face shield.

Information on when to use PPE and using it correctly can be found in this Public Health England guide.

We work in partnership with Carers in Bedfordshire, a local organisation with a great range of support available to you as a carer. You can find out more at www.carersinbeds.org.uk or by calling 0300 111 1919.

Carers in Bedfordshire are continuing to provide telephone and virtual support including group activities and individual support, as well as sending out appropriate information. There are also a number of webinars available to attend to find out information about specific conditions.

If you are an unpaid carer, caring for a family member or someone else and you need PPE for your personal use we will arrange for a pack to be delivered to you, please:

  • email carersPPE@centralbedfordshire.gov.uk
  • make sure the title of the email is “Carers PPE”
  • include your name and address (in order that PPE can be posted to you) and the glove size that you require.
  • If you do not have access to the internet, please call 0300 300 8900 with all of the above information and we will arrange for PPE to be sent out in the post.
