Easter - bins, tips and other council services
With the Easter weekend approaching, here are some important reminders about council services.
We will still be collecting waste
We will still be collecting waste on Friday and Monday. So, if your waste is due to be collected on either of those days, make sure you leave it out as normal.
Tidy tips are open as normal
Tidy tips will be open every day over Easter, including Friday and Monday. They open at 9am and close at 5pm.
School term dates
Most schools close this Thursday for Easter and don’t go back until 17 April. Check our website for details of school term dates through until summer 2020. Not all schools follow these dates, so check with the school if in any doubt.
Council offices are closed
Our council offices will be closed on Friday and Monday. For emergency contact telephone numbers, go to our website.
Library opening times
If you are using a library over Easter, pop on to our website for links to each libraries web page which gives details of their opening times.
Leisure centre opening times
If you are planning on eating lots of Easter eggs, then you might want to combine that with regular visits to the gym – we’ve links on our website to each leisure centre which will show their opening hours.
Website is open all hours
Our website will be open all hours over Easter, so you can pop on at any time to, for example, have your say on the bin changes consultation.
GDPR - advanced notice
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the first update in data protection regulations in twenty years and is designed to protect citizens’ data throughout Europe. Despite Brexit, we will still need to comply with these new regulations designed to protect your information online and hard copy.
Because of these changes, from Friday, 25 May 2018 we can only send you emails if you re-opt-in to receive our alerts.
We want to make sure we can stay in touch with you, so we will be emailing you shortly, with information about how you can re-opt-in, but wanted to give you advanced notice to expect this.
For more information on GDPR, you can visit the Information Commissioner's Officer (ICO) website.
Keep in touch
Don't forget, you can keep in touch by following us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
