“We Know a Place…” Summer inspiration for families
Tourism officers will be assisting local attractions and hospitality operators to maximise the key summer holiday period via a new set of “We Know a Place…” digital activities, designed to inspire families to explore the county by showcasing hidden gems, weather-proof attractions, budget-friendly activities and last-minute days out.
Providing easy-to-access inspiration and information is key for visitors and residents and you can get involved by sharing #WeKnowAPlace content across your social media channels and encouraging guests to follow the campaign for ideas and inspiration.

Save the date - new Tywi Valley Path walking festival
Taking place from 17–27 September 2026 this series of organised guided walks will raise the profile of our newest long-distance traffic free path and a reason for overnight visitors to stay post school holiday.
Over 3 weekends, officers have arranged for walks including Weave and Walk, Castles and Gardens, Nordic Walking, Guided walk of the Parkland in Gelli Aur Country Park and A Tale of Two Rivers walk.

Wool Museum first local attraction on new scheme
 Congratulations to the team at the National Wool Museum in becoming the first County attraction to successfully complete the brand-new Tourism Business Ambassador Scheme, improving their staff’s knowledge. An open all year attraction, it celebrates Wales's rich woollen heritage whilst delivering an exceptional visitor experience, marking its 50th anniversary in 2026 with special events and the reopening of the Weaving Shed.

Award winners support £764m local tourism sector
With the 2025 economic impact report stating our tourism sector now contributes over £¾ billion to the local economy, the positive perception as a quality destination has been strengthened by several businesses gaining regional and national awards.
Congratulations to Llwynifan Farm and Craig Evans Foraging (Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Award), Llanerchindda Farm Guest House (AA Welsh B&B 2026), ‘Y Castell’ (Two Rosette Award for Culinary Excellence and Four Gold Star Inn) and the Council’s own Pembrey and Llyn Llech Owain Country Parks (International Green Flag award)
Carmarthenshire Business Awards winners included Emma Hill (Entrepreneur of the Year), HolidayNests (Green Business 2026), Albert Rees Deli (Retail Business 2026), and LiveFree Adventures (Tourism and Hospitality Business 2026).

New accessibility funding opportunity
With around one in four overnight trips to Wales including someone with an access requirement Welsh Government’s new capital grant Croeso i Bawb offers financial support to tourism and hospitality businesses to improve accessibility and create more inclusive visitor experiences.

Top influencer showcases traffic-free cycling
Officers recently hosted travel content creator Tiger Lilly Quinn, who has more than 100,000 followers, to showcase Carmarthenshire’s traffic-free cycling routes.
Exploring the county by bike, Tiger Lilly Quinn demonstrated how visitors can discover Carmarthenshire’s landscapes, attractions and businesses in a more sustainable and environmentally conscious way. Her content is helping introduce the county to new audiences, inspiring people to explore by bike and highlighting Carmarthenshire as a destination for sustainable outdoor adventures.
The visit has already generated excellent Instagram content, with a dedicated blog feature also due to be published, providing further promotion for the county and local businesses.
