Maesgriffith welcomes new residents

The completion of the Maesgriffith development marks another milestone in Carmarthenshire County Council's housing programme providing high-quality, affordable homes for local people and helping to address demand for housing in the area.

The development consists of 12 modern, energy-efficient homes, which are now occupied by tenants who have begun settling into their new community.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Homes, Emlyn Schiavone, said:

“Access to good quality, affordable homes improves health and well-being and helps build strong, sustainable communities. These new homes will create safe, vibrant neighbourhoods that families can be proud of, while also supporting our local economy by attracting and retaining a strong workforce.”

The homes have been built to a high standard and include energy-efficient features designed to help reduce household energy costs while supporting the Council's environmental ambitions.

Report housing repairs online

Did you know that you can report a housing repair online?

Reporting repairs online means that your request is sent straight to the team and will be dealt with as soon as possible.

Need help staying independent at home?

Do you have problems getting around your home because of an illness, condition or disability?

We may be able to adapt your home to help you to live more independently. When your home is ‘adapted’ it is changed so that it is more suitable to meet your physical needs. Adaptations can include anything from a ramp, a stair lift to a walk-in shower. This list is not exhaustive, but the adaptations we can offer will depend on your needs and your home following an assessment by an Occupational Therapist.

For Council tenants there will be no cost for the work we do to your home. Your rent is unlikely to increase as a result of the adaptation to your home, but we will discuss this with you before going ahead with the works if your rent is affected.

You or a family member can apply directly (or you may be referred by a health or social care professional). An assessment will be carried out by an occupational therapist who will work with us to find out what changes we can make to help you live more safely and independently in your home. For small adaptations, for example a grab rail an assessment is not needed, a request can be made over the telephone.

If we cannot adapt your home to meet your needs, we can talk to you about moving to another home which is already adapted, or that can be adapted to suit your needs.

Changes to recycling and waste collections in Carmarthenshire over the summer bank holiday

Check your recycling and waste collection dates ahead of the summer bank holiday, Monday 31 August.

All collections will take place one day later than usual. Here’s when your bins will be collected:

Normal collection day	Revised collection day
Monday 31 August	Tuesday 1 September
Tuesday 1 September	Wednesday 2 September
Wednesday 2 September	Thursday 3 September
Thursday 3 September	Friday 4 September
Friday 4 September	Saturday 5 September

Collections for hygiene and nappy waste and garden waste will also follow the revised schedule.

Put your bins out by 6am on your revised collection day. Remember the three black bag limit and wash and squash your recycling.

Any service disruptions will be published on the council website after 2pm on the day of collection. Please check for the latest updates before reporting a missed collection.
