Council property Home Checks
|
|
Your Housing Officer will carry out routine Council Property Home Checks. These visits are an opportunity to:
- Ensure we have up-to-date household information
- Discuss any changes in circumstances or medical needs
- Raise any concerns about your tenancy
- Check the condition of your property and garden
- Provide advice and guidance where needed
Visits usually last between 30-60 minutes, depending on what you would like to discuss. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain safe and well-managed homes.

STAR survey
|
|
|
Following the results from our Star Survey we have listened to your views and are now looking at ways on how to improve the service you want. We will be prioritising engagement with our tenants in the coming months and will be reaching out to tenants for further views on how you can help us shape these changes.
- Clearer, more regular communication - Providing tenants with clear communication, listening to tenants’ concerns, advising on expectations, sharing updates through the channels you prefer, such as face to face, email, social media, letters and on‑site information.
- More opportunities to have your say - Expect more surveys, estate walkabouts, and quick‑feedback options so you can easily tell us what matters to you.
- Personalised support when you need it - Whether it’s repairs, rent advice, anti-social behaviour concerns or estate issues, we’ll respond quickly and make sure you’re directed to the right support.
- Community‑focused projects and events - We’ll keep delivering activities and improvement projects that bring tenants, staff and partners together to shape positive changes in your area.
- Working with tenants from the start - We’ll involve tenants earlier when developing new ideas, pilot schemes and neighbourhood improvements.

Changes to grass cutting in your area
You may notice changes to how the Council cuts grass in some housing areas. This is to help wildlife, support pollinators like bees and butterflies, and respond to the Nature and Climate Emergencies in Wales.
We are looking to gradually introduce three styles of grass cutting:
- Amenity Cut: Every 2 weeks in busy areas.
- Nectar Cut and Collect: Every 6 weeks to allow flowers to grow.
- Meadow Cut and Collect: Twice a year to create flower‑rich areas.
A neat 1‑metre strip will still be cut along paths and roads.
These changes will help more wildflowers grow and improve local green spaces. We’ve also been planting new trees, hedges, and flowers with support from Welsh Government Local Places for Nature funding.
Got ideas? If you know an area that could benefit from less mowing or new planting, please speak to your housing officer.
