Working together for a safer Tyisha
The Transforming Tyisha Team has been working closely with the Police and Crime Commissioner to help make our community safer. With funding from the Home Office Hotspot Patrol Fund, we have been carrying out additional evening and weekend patrols across Tyisha. These patrols focus on preventing crime, anti-social behaviour and waste offences. Since May 2025, nearly 400 hours of patrols have been completed in the area. This increased presence is helping to deter crime and reassure residents. |

Report crime anonymously with Crimestoppers
We are pleased to announce that we are now working with Crimestoppers, an independent charity that allows you to report crime completely anonymously.
- You will not be asked for your name or personal details.
- Your information is passed securely to the relevant authorities.
Throughout March, you may notice new signs and community events in Tyisha raising awareness about this service. We hope this provides residents with a safe and confidential way to share concerns.

Waste and recycling operation
Over recent weeks, the Transforming Tyisha Team, alongside colleagues from the Council’s Environmental Department, have carried out a waste operation across the Tyisha ward, including rear lanes behind properties.
This work has included:
- Early morning patrols to monitor waste presentation
- Follow-up checks after collection
- Identifying fly-tipping and littering issues
These activities help us better understand recycling practices in the area and ensure households are meeting their responsibilities.
We kindly remind all residents to:
- Check what can and cannot be recycled
- Present waste correctly on collection days
- Keep rear lanes and gardens clear of rubbish
Correct waste presentation is the responsibility of each resident. By working together, we can improve recycling rates and keep Tyisha clean and welcoming.

Council property Home Checks
Your Housing Officer will carry out routine Council Property Home Checks. These visits are an opportunity to:
- Ensure we have up-to-date household information
- Discuss any changes in circumstances or medical needs
- Raise any concerns about your tenancy
- Check the condition of your property and garden
- Provide advice and guidance where needed
Visits usually last between 30-60 minutes, depending on what you would like to discuss. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain safe and well-managed homes.

Bulb Planting
On 17 February 2026, residents joined us for a bulb planting event at the green area next to the Railway Club. This initiative was funded by the Welsh Government’s Local Places for Nature programme. During the event, volunteers also collected seven bags of litter, helping to improve the space for everyone. Thank you to all residents who took part. |
