Carmarthenshire care leaver shares her story
We've been chatting with someone very special...
Meet Jodie, a care leaver in Carmarthenshire. Jodie entered foster care as a teenager and spent the rest of her childhood in foster care.
She talks about the person who shaped how she sees herself and showed her the kind of mother she wants to be. Her foster mother, Jackie.
Despite the challenges Jodie faced, she is now a successful business owner, a devoted mum, and a proud care leaver.

Care leavers in Carmarthenshire may qualify for council tax relief.
Care-experienced applicants who meet the essential criteria for any non-school vacancy with Carmarthenshire County Council will automatically be shortlisted for an interview.
This scheme helps care leavers get the opportunities they deserve.
Tick the Box
We're proud to support The Fostering Network in encouraging care-experienced young people to Tick the Box on their UCAS applications.
Too many care leavers miss out on additional financial, wellbeing and accommodation support because they don't tick the box.
Currently, care-experienced young people are 3.5 times less likely to progress to higher education than their peers. Together, we can change that by ensuring every applicant understands the difference one simple tick can make.
If you're a care leaver in Carmarthenshire, your Personal Advisor can guide you through the support available.
