New marketing girls getaway campaign goes live!
In the last two weeks, our brand-new “Sisterhood” marketing campaign which features 90 tourism businesses has reached over 73,000 impressions on Facebook and Instagram and over 2million on YouTube and Google, showing fantastic engagement and interest in girls’ short break weekends across the County. The campaign is an insider’s guide for women seeking more than a spa break connecting through shared creative or active experiences while finding time to truly rest. New Tywi Valley traffic free path expands
 Two new sections of the Tywi Valley Path are now open between Llanarthne and Cilsan for walking, cycling, and wheeling. Explore wildlife, boardwalks, and historic landmarks like Dryslwyn Castle and Paxton’s Tower.
Major bridges over the Tywi and Cothi rivers mark key progress, with the Llandeilo to Llanarthne section opening November 2025 and the full path from Abergwili to Llandeilo in early 2026. The route links attractions including Aberglasney Gardens, National Botanic Garden of Wales, and Gelli Aur Golden Grove, supporting sustainable travel via the Heart of Wales railway. Part of Climate Action Sir Gâr, the path encourages everyone to protect and enhance Carmarthenshire’s natural environment.

Tourism ambassadors official ceremony returns
 After welcoming 35 ambassadors to County Hall last year to celebrate their achievements, we are delighted to announce the 2025 official ceremony date. Hosted in the main council chamber, certificates and photos will be awarded to our second cohort of Ambassadors on 24 November.

New tourism business ambassador scheme launching
In readiness for Wales Ambassador Week (17–24 November), we’re excited to announce the launch of a brand-new Tourism Business Ambassador Scheme in Carmarthenshire. Supported by the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund, up to 10 businesses are being invited to integrate the Ambassador course into staff induction and training, receive bespoke one-to-one support from a leading industry supplier.
This pilot marks an important step toward building a strong, connected tourism community that champions everything Carmarthenshire has to offer enhancing visitor experiences and promoting our county’s culture, heritage, and hospitality.

National Accommodation registration scheme gains final approval
Royal Assent was given in September 2025 for a Welsh Government Act to introduce a registration of all visitor accommodation providers in Wales. Commencing in 2026 and overseen by the Welsh Revenue Authority, you must register with them by law if you charge visitors for overnight stays in Wales. Accommodation providers can find out more by registering for their online seminars in November

Date announced for new “Meet the Supplier” wedding showcase
We’re excited to confirm the date for our brand-new Wedding “Meet the Supplier” Showcase taking place on 20 January 2026 at the stunning Great Glasshouse at the Botanic Garden of Wales.
With an economic value to the County of £6m, weddings are big business, and this event is designed to help our local supply chain make the most of the market. Council officers from Tourism Development and the Registrar Service are joining forces to connect local suppliers, venues, and tourism partners all working together to position Carmarthenshire as the most romantic destination in the UK.
The showcase will feature an inspiring mix of local businesses across four key themes: • Made in Carmarthenshire – crafts, jewellery, soaps, tastings • Taste Carmarthenshire – caterers and artisan food producers • Experience Carmarthenshire – photography, entertainment, wellbeing • Styled by Carmarthenshire – florists, stylists, and décor experts

Carmarthenshire hits the road with top UK magazine!
We hosted a media visit from Motorcaravanner Magazine during the summer, the UK’s top-selling publication for the motorcaravan sector with a major 8-page feature showcasing the County’s attractions across their readership.
The journalist was so impressed that he has since nominated the Museum of Land Speed at Pendine for a British Guild of Travel Writers Tourism Award, a prestigious honour judged by professional travel writers. Winners will be announced at their annual Gala Dinner in November. We shall keep you posted!

Weather-proofing Fund now open to micro businesses
Please note that the Weather-proofing fund has now been extended to include Micro Businesses. This means micro and small businesses that employ 1-49 permanent staff (full or part time), are eligible.
The deadline has also been extended until 5pm on 10 November.

Canolfan Pentre Awel opens its doors to the local community
Canolfan Pentre Awel in Llanelli is now open, welcoming residents and sports clubs through its doors from 15 October. The landmark development marks a major milestone for the Swansea Bay City Deal project, jointly funded by the UK and Welsh Governments and Carmarthenshire County Council, with £40 million investment. Bringing together health, leisure, education and business services under one roof, the facility aims to improve wellbeing, learning and economic growth in the region. An official opening event will take place later this year, with representatives from key partners and the wider community. |
