Hello and welcome to the first edition of our Bureau newsletter, specially created for the third sector and Town and Community Councils. 

We aim to provide you with an overview of the latest news, upcoming events and exciting funding opportunities. Our goal is to keep you informed and connected with the developments that matter most to you and your organisation. We hope you find the content both informative and inspiring as you continue to make a positive difference in our communities. We look forward to sharing many more updates with you in the future.

The sustainable communities programme would like to celebrate the key achievements from the first round of funding.  In total, 70 projects were successfully awarded funding from the first UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF) Sustainable Communities Fund, between 2022-2025.

Community Activities for Biodiversity

Local Places for Nature Carmarthenshire is offering grants of up to £1500 to support Community Activities for Biodiversity. The grant is aimed at helping raise public awareness of the importance of biodiversity and to support related community activities.   If you have a project idea and would like to apply, please complete the application form.

Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru

Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru (Trydan), is Wales’ renewable energy developer wholly owned by the Welsh Government.   Trydan is on a mission to unlock the renewable energy potential of Wales. By looking to develop renewable energy on primarily Welsh Government owned land, such as its woodland estate like Brechfa Forest, Trydan aims to maximise the value of this land and our natural resources for the people of Wales.  We are keen to ensure that everyone with an interest in our proposals can contact us to ask questions and provide feedback. Our first public consultation events will be held later this year.

Dangos: free online resources to support people in need  

Dangos will give people like you , who are in day to day contact with others who might need help, the information to better understand what help is available. It will show you ways to encourage people to take the help they're entitled to and it will show you where to find expert support for people in need.

Volunteering Wales Grant Scheme: WCVA

Volunteering Wales Grants is a scheme funded by the Welsh Government to promote and improve volunteering in Wales.  A new round of funding is now open, and the closing date for applications is 24 October 2025.

Grants are available to small, local charities and voluntary organisations in Wales for projects and activities designed to support and strengthen local communities.

Riverside Community Trust

The aim of the Fund is to support local communities, with emphasis on grassroot groups with a local presence in Riverside neighbourhoods. Projects that promote opportunities and wellbeing, plus addressing  poverty in the community, are supported.

Welsh Government Community Facilities Programme

The funding is intended to help organisations develop and improve facilities for communities in order to tackle poverty and its effects, increasing opportunity, creating prosperity for all, and developing resilient communities where people are engaged and empowered.

Welsh Water Community Fund

The funding is intended to support community organisations with local initiatives promoting health, wellbeing and environmental objectives (Priority will be given to those schemes where Welsh Water are, or have been, working).
