Welsh Government reviews 182-day rule for holiday lets
The Welsh Government has launched a consultation (closing 20 November 2025) proposing key changes to the ‘182-day rule’ for self-catering holiday lets. Under the current April 2023 rules, properties must be available for 252 days and let for at least 182 days to qualify for non-domestic rates. The proposed changes would allow letting days to be averaged over multiple years and permit up to 14 days of free charitable stays to count toward the 182-day target. The consultation also considers a 12-month grace period before higher council tax applies.

Farmers market achieves new industry standard
Llandovery Farmers Market has become the first in Wales to be accredited as a Real Farmers Market by the Farm Retail Association (FRA). The scheme, launched in January, sets a new benchmark for authenticity, ensuring customers buy directly from the farmers, growers, and producers themselves.
The market showcases a wide range of Welsh produce, from pasture-fed meats, cheeses, honey, fruit and veg to artisan drinks, preserves, bakes, flowers and plants. Street food stalls also source ingredients locally.
Congratulations to all involved for this great achievement.
