Carmarthenshire Fostering Community Highlights
Jasmin from The Fostering Network joined our Mentor Led Support Group, guiding foster carers through their membership entitlements.
We teamed up with WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre during their Dragonfly Festival to host a Kite Making Workshop for our foster carers and children and young people. Guided by the Community Kite Project, we learned traditional Japanese kite-making techniques.
We're planning our annual Summer Event, which will be filled with fun activities for our foster carers and children and young people.

Skills to Foster
We're proud to have adopted The Fostering Network's Skills to Foster, the UK's leading pre-approval preparation training course for prospective foster carers. This makes up Step 3: The Training in our process, designed to equip participants with the knowledge and confidence to nurture children and young people in foster care.
The training covers six essential sessions: what children need, fostering relationships, a protective and loving home, therapeutic care, supporting identity, and transitions and endings.
July marked our first delivery of this enhanced training. We were thrilled to welcome seven households!

Carmarthenshire foster carers share the importance of local support
A couple who transferred to foster with Foster Wales Carmarthenshire in 2016 are reflecting on their journey, one that has spanned over two decades and transformed the lives of many children and young people.
Their fostering journey began in 2004 when a relative, who was already a foster carer, encouraged them to consider fostering. After learning about the process and what it entailed, they decided to take the leap, and haven’t looked back since.
