 Planned actions to boost year-round tourism
Marketing initiatives promoting wellness, relaxation, and off-peak travel are all part of a program to increase awareness of the County as an attractive place to visit in the traditional off season, while showcasing Carmarthenshire’s coast, countryside, and culture across all seasons.
With funding support from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, recent market research has shown need to focus on sustainable and high-quality visitor experiences. Further investment for key local visitor attractions
With successful applications to Welsh Government’s Brilliant Basics fund, further investment is being made at two major visitor attractions. Pembrey Country Park is adding glamping pods and weatherproofed events infrastructure whilst WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre is transforming their visitor centre to address accessibility issues and enhance the overall visitor experience.

Boosting awareness of the county through liaising with UK media is a key role for officers and we were delighted to arrange for the Lifestyle Editor at Fabulous Magazine to visit during April. This is the UK’s number one lifestyle brand, reaching 2.9m women each week!

Clean Air Day: Carmarthenshire’s Air Quality Continues to Improve
To mark Clean Air Day (19 June), Carmarthenshire County Council highlighted the continued and significant improvement in air quality across the county since 2009. Thanks to changes in transport habits, cleaner technologies, and targeted Council initiatives, the county is now meeting national air quality objectives.

Increasing awareness of the importance of tourism in the local community is a key task and tourism officer Sarah was delighted to accept an invitation to speak to members of the Llanelli Chamber of Trade and Commerce at their June meeting. Attendees heard about upcoming marketing plans and the Council’s wider role, which led to positive conversations on growing tourism in Carmarthenshire and in the largest town in the County. |
