This June, we're celebrating Pride Month by recognising our incredible LGBTQ+ foster carers who are making a real difference in the lives of children and young people in foster care.
In Carmarthenshire, more than 1 in 10 of our fostering households are LGBTQ+ households.
To support our foster carers, we offer free Gold Membership to New Family Social, a UK charity led by LGBTQ+ adopters and foster carers. Whether you're exploring fostering or already on your journey, their resources are there for you.
Want to learn more? Their free Bronze Membership gives you access to helpful webinars and more information.

Foster Care Fortnight (12-25 May)
This Foster Care Fortnight, we joined forces with The Fostering Network to celebrate the power of relationships in foster care in Carmarthenshire.
From events to awareness campaigns, it was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the relationships that change lives every day.
|
To honour Foster Care Fortnight, we launched our first wellbeing walk at Sandy Water Park. It was great to see so many of our foster carers together connecting and enjoying the outdoors.
A big thank you to The Fostering Network for joining us and supporting the day.

The power of relationships in fostering with Bev and Reg
Fostering is more than providing a home, it's about building lasting relationships.
Bev and Reg have been fostering a young person with disabilities for 11 years, and throughout that time, they've not only offered a loving home but also maintained his connection with his birth family.
Bev and Reg have one piece of advice for anyone thinking about fostering...
"Go for it!"

The power of relationships in fostering with Marie, Mal and Madison
Marie and Mal have been fostering for almost 8 years now and have built a strong, lasting bond with 15-year-old Madison, who's been part of their family since she was 9 years old.
For Madison, the connection with her foster family has meant everything.
"My relationship with Marie and Mal means everything to me. Marie, Mal and the whole family are my family. I have all the love and support in the world from them all."

Foster carers needed for a young girl with a love for animals (from Autumn/Winter 2025)
We're looking for an understanding family to provide a calm, structured, and nurturing home for a young girl currently living in a residential care home. She thrives in supportive and predictable environments, where she can receive 1:1 attention, emotional warmth, and acceptance.
She's happiest when she's with animals, particularly horses, and would benefit from a home where she can continue to enjoy this passion. When she's around horses, her face lights up with a smile. She's incredibly caring, regularly volunteering at local animal shelters and showing great compassion.
She loves going to school, swimming, watching TV and YouTube videos, going to the cinema, and spending time outdoors. She’s adventurous and unafraid to get a bit messy while exploring! She also enjoys creative activities such as hair and beauty.
Could you be the right family?
- Experience supporting children with complex behavioural and/or attachment needs.
- Able to provide a quiet, low-stress home with clear structure and supervision.
- Able to provide a home where she is the only child.
We recommend a therapeutic approach to parenting, so she would be best placed with experienced individuals who have previously supported children with complex needs. If you have experience, and can offer a safe, nurturing home, we'd love to hear from you.
