 Carmarthenshire in the national spotlight
Officers work with national media on a weekly basis to raise awareness of everything Carmarthenshire has to offer, working with many businesses on itineraries for visiting journalists. After visiting in April, The Times newspaper showcased a scenic coastal walk from Pendine Sands to Colby Woodland Garden across one page whilst the Head Gardener at London’s Garden Museum full page feature article on our beautiful gardens and exceptional food and hospitality went out in the Guardian in May. Thank you to all the local businesses who supported these visits.

Further investment and new attractions
The Council team at the Caban in Pendine Sands last month unveiled a stunning new 12-hole crazy golf course that sure is going to be popular with young and old, whilst people have started to enjoy the first 4 mile completed section of the new Tywi Valley Path between Abergwili and Nantgaredig. When completed, the 16.7-mile trail will provide a scenic, traffic-free route for walkers, cyclists, and wheelchair users between Carmarthen and Llandeilo.
Two Welsh Government backed “Brilliant Basics” schemes have been completed at Carmarthen Museum and Llansteffan beach further enhancing two popular attractions whilst the Council has been again successful in applications for improvements at Pembrey Country Park and WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre.

Organising events safely
The tragic incident that occurred in Liverpool city centre along with similar events at winter markets across Europe, serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of prioritising public safety at all community and organised events.
These incidents highlight the critical need for event organisers to have thorough and robust safety plans in place. The threat of vehicles being used as weapons is a reality that can affect any location, and proactive planning is essential to protect attendees and staff.
To support organisers in this effort, comprehensive guidance is available through the County Events Safety Advisory Group (ESAG). This group brings together experienced professionals from the County Council, Police, Fire and Rescue, Trunk Road Agency, and Ambulance Services to offer expert advice on traffic management, risk assessments, and overall event planning. The Group adopts a supportive and collaborative approach to ensure that safety and quality standards continue to improve.
If you are aware of any upcoming events in your area, please encourage organisers to contact the ESAG Group EventSafetyAG@carmarthenshire.gov.uk as early as possible. Early engagement can make a significant difference in ensuring a safe and successful event for all.
