Repairs and maintaining your home – who is responsible?
As your landlord, we must:
- Make sure that your home is fit for human habitation; keeping the structure/exterior of the home, kitchen and bathroom (such as sinks, toilets and baths) is in a good state of repair
- Maintain the service installations for water, gas, electricity, sanitation and heating
- Respond to you when a repair has been logged, confirming if the repair is necessary, who is responsible and give likely timescales for the repair
- Repair any damage caused by work/repairs carried out
- Give at least 24 hours notice before entering your home for inspections/repairs, apart from emergencies or where this has been agreed with you
In an emergency, we can enter your home without notice if there is a risk of severe damage or urgent health and safety issues
As a Contract Holder, you must:
- Take proper care of your home, including fixtures, fittings and decoration
- Not keep anything that poses a health and safety risk
- Notify us of any defects/disrepair as soon as possible
- Carry out/arrange minor maintenance. This includes replacing broken glass, locks, keys, hinges, toilet seats, tiles, electric plugs, fuses, sink and bath plugs, waste grids, smoke alarm batteries, washing lines as well as maintaining gardens and sheds
- Provide immediate access to your home in the event of an emergency (e.g. urgent repair)
- Carry out/arrange repairs caused by neglect including items damaged by you, someone you live with or visitors to your home. We may repair the damage for you and re-charge you for the cost of the work
You must not make any structural alterations without our consent. This will result in us re-charging to correct the alterations and/or legal action to end our Occupation Contract with you.
Changes to Easter waste collections
There are some changes to household waste collections over the Easter period:
- Good Friday (18 April) - collections will take place on Saturday, 19 April
- Week of Easter Monday (21 April) - all collections will be delayed by one day (for example, Monday’s collections will move to Tuesday)
Hygiene and garden waste collections will also follow the revised schedule.

What the Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS) 2023 means for you
We are working to achieve the Welsh Housing Quality Standard (2023) in all of our homes.
WHQS 2023 is the standard set by Welsh Government that all Council and Housing Association owned homes in Wales must achieve.
This means:
- Safer, warmer and more energy efficient homes
- Modern, high quality kitchens, bathrooms and living spaces
- Less need for repairs, with quicker responses when you need us
- Suitable gardens and attractive outdoor spaces
- Homes you can be proud of – now and in the future
