Spotlight on St Clears

As part of our Ten Towns project, each month we will showcase our County’s rural market towns and this month our focus turns to St Clears. A small town rich with heritage, independent shops and places to eat.

On Thursday 23 January we will be at St Clears Leisure Centre where you can book a one on one session with Council officers from tourism development, licensing and business support. The event is free to attend, slots available on a first come first served basis and you decide which officers you want to meet and chat with.

Carmarthenshire wins at Regional Awards

Congratulations to the five locally based businesses that were successful at the Southwest Wales regional tourism awards, including our colleagues at Pembrey Country Park who won “best caravan, camping and glamping”.

Also successful and now going on to the National Awards in March include Stangwrach Cottages, Glangwili Mansion Luxury Bed and Breakfast, Plough Hotel and Restaurant and Cambrian Cottages.

Uni students become latest Tourism ambassadors

Wales Ambassador week in November provided an excellent opportunity to work with students at University of Wales Trinity St David to complete the bronze level module. Congratulations to all who passed and are now promoting the County.

Carmarthenshire in the spotlight again

Trailed throughout the advert breaks for I’m a celebrity with Llandovery front and centre, ITV’s brand-new major drama series Out There starring Martin Clunes airs shortly across their networks. We were delighted to assist the production and look forward to watching. Thank you to all businesses who helped on the major fashion shoot in Llansteffan with one of the top brands in Europe.

‘Cwtch Up Carmarthenshire’ launches

Targeting the winter short break audience as temperatures drop, the ‘Cwtch Up’ campaign is promoting the very best places in the county to enjoy a cosy winter break, vying to be known as the capital of all things cosy. Experiences include places to stay, eat and explore plus tips on the best wintery trips to take with friends and family doing cosy things that are good for the soul as the days shorten. These examples are just a starting point, we will be embracing as many examples as possible. If you can think of others, then we would love to hear from you.

What’s new for 2025

We get regular requests from Welsh and UK wide travel and lifestyle press after what’s new and available in the County. A new cabin or woodland sauna? New courses or workshops. Local produce vending machines or food trucks. Perhaps last-minute availability for Valentines and half term?

Year of Croeso 2025

Visit Wales has revealed that Croeso will be the theme of the year for 2025. The Hwyl campaign will launch in January 2025 and focuses on the feelings of fun and joy that you can experience “Only in Wales”.

Wall of Hwyl / Wal Hwyl” will feature on Visit Wales when the campaign launches in January 2025 with the “wall” filled with moments of fun and joy – hwyl - throughout Wales.
