Slots now available for next tourism roadshow event

After well attended events in Llanelli, Newcastle Emlyn, Ammanford and Carmarthen, another date has been arranged for businesses to meet with a range of County Council officers. Come and meet tourism development officers, licencing, grants, plus business and marketing support in Llandeilo on 16 May.

“Cwtch Up” in Carmarthenshire reaches millions

Targeting those seeking a post Xmas short break within a 3hr drivetime, marketing activities using the popularised term ‘cwtch’ as a hook reached over a 3.6 million people through social media advertising, influencer visits and radio leading to 12,278 click throughs to the Discover Carmarthenshire website.

Thank you to the many local businesses who took part whilst the work was supported by the UK Government’s Levelling up fund.

New Workplace Recycling Legislation

As from 6 April 2024, any waste you put out for collection must be separated into categories of glass bottles & jars, food waste (if you produce more than 5kg per week), cardboard & paper and metals plastic and cartons.

Speak to your waste collection provider to ensure you meet your compliance. Sector specific advice and support including signage, posters and webinars is available.

Random Acts of Welshness

Maximising interest in St David’s day, coverage was gained through partnerships with ThisIsWales.com and Visit Wales as well as gaining digital traction through our “Cawl Crawl” marketing activities which is being supported by the UK Government’s Levelling up fund.

A new Guinness World record was broken on March 1^st at Cefn Sidan beach for the longest distance game of tug of war measuring a whopping 516.35m. A Reel of the attempt has been posted on the Guinness World Record facebook account which has received 66k views. A programme featuring each of this year's record-breaking attempts, produced by Cardiff-based Orchard, will be broadcast on S4C at 8pmon April 1st

Come and see first-hand some of the most visited attractions in the County in readiness for the forthcoming season. Free familiarisation visits including tours and presentations are being offered throughout the Spring for major visitor facilities. Book a place now on the familiarisation visit to Llanelli attractions including Pembrey Country Park and Llanelly House on April 25th.

Carmarthenshire Ambassador scheme hits over 400

Sign up to become a Carmarthenshire Tourism Ambassador scheme and join over 400 people who have already signed up at bronze and silver level. Modules cover towns and villages, food and drink, welsh language and culture, Carmarthenshire’s coastline, gardens and green spaces and arts and culture.

The modules improve knowledge through fun, free and informative online learning with a quiz at the end. Further gold modules will be release in April. Once completed, you will be sent branded window stickers, certificates, and social media icons to showcase your achievement. For more information contact Sarah.

Pentre Awel project marks pivotal milestone

Fay Jones, Parliamentary Under-Secretary State for Wales, joined senior officials from Carmarthenshire County Council, as well as representatives from Bouygues UK and local subcontractors to the official ‘topping out’ ceremony of the prestigious Pentre Awel site as the final steel structure has been completed for all five buildings that together make up Zone 1.

The multi-million-pound development, the largest regeneration scheme in the southwest, is being delivered by Carmarthenshire County Council and will bring together life science and business innovation, community healthcare and modern leisure facilities at the 83-acre Delta Lakes site on the Llanelli coastline.
