Tourism Industry update February 2024

Targeting those seeking a quality winter short break post Christmas, the hook uses the popularised term ‘cwtch’ through marketing activities including targeted social media advertising, public relations, and influencer visits with support from many local businesses to make the 10 themed breaks including places to stay, eat and explore, stargazing to coastal cwtches. The work is being supported by the UK Government’s Levelling up fund.

The marketing of the County as an attractive location to film continues to build with advertising in the UK film sector bible Kays launching this month. Also this month sees BBC2’s Rick Stein's Food Stories air with the Carmarthenshire episode on 19th showing Rick visit Carmarthen and Laugharne. Thank you to all who assisted us to make this happen. 

In readiness for St David’s Day, we have a promotion in place with Radio Carmarthenshire to promote and raise awareness of how good the county is at making the authentic dish of Cawl.

The campaign goes live 21^st February and aims to raise awareness of the Cawl Crawl campaign, adverts will highlight where visitors can venture on a tour of the county’s best cawl spots, promoting some of the quality pubs, cafes, and restaurants around the county.

Listen out for the campaign and encourage your guests to do the trail. Don’t forget to tell us which cawl was their favourite. Numerous stalls and exhibitors at this event, a great opportunity to discover the best of West Wales’ produce, secure trade deals and network, on 13 March 2024 at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.
