Go Wynne - Carmarthen man wins Masterchef

After weeks of showcasing the best local produce that Wales has to offer, singer, radio DJ and the face of Go Compere Wynne Evans was finally crowned the prestigious Masterchef Champion of 2023 and we couldn’t be prouder.

Food and drink is a key element of a visit to the County and used as a sales hook in many of our marketing campaigns – check out the Larder Trails which is currently being targeted at those within a 2.5hr drivetime to entice Autumn short breaks. Get involved by listing your business FREE.

New Days Out visitor guide now available

Visitors stay longer and spend more when they have easy access to relevant information. Our official A5 visitor guide lists over 200 different things to do and see in the County as well as providing a giant map.

With financial support from the UK Government’s Levelling Up fund, 20,000 copies of the Guide are now being distributed for Autumn to support attractions and make it easier for accommodation providers to provide helpful information to their guests. Copies can be picked up as from 20 October from the Council’s Hwb centres in Carmarthen, Ammanford and Llanelli town centres. Dog Friendly Autumn promotional campaign

Marketing activities are shortly to commence targeting those planning an autumn break with their dogs, a large target audience within the UK and one the County is highly competitive in. Web pages have been updated with a full list of dog friendly places to visit, eat, drink and linked to those accommodation providers who have ticked that they are dog friendly.

If you welcome dogs to your business, make sure you are part of this marketing campaign by gaining your FREE listing. Campaign is supported from the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund.

Martin Clunes behaves “well” in Llandovery.

Leaving Cornwall behind as Dr Martin, Martin Clunes has become the latest TV and film star to visit the County for his next production, coming to Llandovery in September. We are promoting the County as an attractive, varied and cost effective filming location in key industry trade magazines and annual guides such as Kays as we seek to add more productions to those already completed such as Sky Cinema ‘Save Our Cinema’, Disney ‘Willow’. Channel 4 ‘Light in the Hall’ and ‘Best of Britain by the Sea’ to popular favourites like ‘Antiques Roadshow’, and ‘Escape to the Country’.

Tourism research update

According to the latest domestic GB Tourism statistics, over 90% of visitors come from within Wales and the rest of UK. Estimated figures show that 1.74 million trips were taken and £341 million spent in Wales for the first 3 months of 2023 by visitors from the UK staying overnight in Wales. (4% and 35% respectively higher that 2022).

Library staff become Tourism Ambassadors

Another team from the County Council has joined the 250 people already signed up as Tourism Ambassadors with the Library section completing their bronze level set of modules. They interact with 000’s of people every week and by broadening their local knowledge through the Ambassador scheme, they are better equipped to support the tourist sector.

You can sign up for this FREE, online course. On completion you will be sent a downloadable certificate and a badge icon to use on your social media.
