BBC's 100 Novels That Shaped The World

ad

Are you looking for adventure?

This month’s novels from the 100 Novels that shaped our world list all have the theme, Adventure. If you have a favourite from this month’s novels then please tweet about it using #MyBookLife and @cambslib so the BBC and the library can retweet it.

Or listen out for Gary Porter, Interim Libraries & Communities Manager, talking on the Charlie Thompson’s Breakfast Show (Saturday 21st March at 8.10am) about his favourite, Raymond Chandler’s The Big Sleep.

Stories in the Pub

pub

Stories in the Pub was a free evening event held in in Ye Olde Griffin Hotel, March on Tuesday 28th January as part of our 100 Novels that shaped our world programme.

Toppings Bookseller, David Learner, read extracts from Bridget Jones’s Diary, To Kill a Mockingbird and The Hound of the Baskervilles. The very enthusiastic audience then discussed those books, and shared their own favourites.

We hope to hold a similar event in the future, possibly in March library so look out for details later in the year.

Be a #LittleHero in the Great British Spring Clean

tidy

Show you love where you live this year by getting involved with this year’s Great British Spring Clean (20 March - 13 April).

This year they aim to get 600,000 #LitterHeroes out there. Let’s help them reach that goal in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Take action by hosting your own community clean-up, joining someone else’s or by pledging to pick up litter while you are out and about.

To find out more about what you can do in your area, visit www.recap.co.uk/news/great-british-spring-clean-2020 where you will find links to your local council who can supply you with the things you need.
