šDuring the October half term, unfortunately our Nant Y Parc childcare setting closed due to staff shortages. Thankfully, Clwb y Ddraig, already on-site, has stepped in to provide support. Families in Senghenydd have received assistance from Caerphilly Early Years and Clwb y Ddraig to ensure a smooth transition.
šOur Flying Start staff will continue their valuable work in other settings across the borough. We thank the Nant Y Parc team for their dedication and wish them well in their new roles, and we hope Clwb y Ddraig continues to thrive.

Tongue Tie is a common condition which is present from birth. Tongue tie is where the skin attaching the tongue to the floor of the mouth is tight, short or thick. If it's very short or tight, it can make it harder to move the tongue.
It is believed to affect 2% to 10% of children and more of the children affected are boys.
A tongue tie doesnāt have any impact on most childrenās speech or language. It will not stop your child learning and saying words, and it is unlikely it will affect your child saying sounds in words correctly. Do not worry if your child cannot say all sounds correctly. Lots of children make mistakes as they develop their speech.
For more information on tongue tie, what you can do to support childrenās talking and where to go if you are worried, visit Final Tongue Tie Leaflet English (gov.wales)

ā ļøDid You Know?ā ļøWater beads, often marketed as toys or sensory materials, can pose serious risks to young children. The Office for Product Safety and Standards has issued a warning highlighting that these small, colorful beads can expand to over 400 times their size when exposed to liquid, leading to gastrointestinal blockages or choking hazards.
Tragically, there have been child fatalities associated with water beads. To ensure the safety of the children in your care, it is crucial to keep water beads away from kids under five years old and supervise older children closely if they are permitted to use them. Always store them out of sight and reach, and be vigilant for any signs of ingestion or choking. Your awareness can make a difference in preventing accidents. To find out more click here.Ā
