As part of the Childcare Offer for Wales, parents and guardians must confirm their eligibility each term, as required by the Welsh Government. Notifications are sent to the parent dashboard around the second week of each half term. When parents confirm "no changes" in their application, these applications are subject to a 20% spot check.
Often, parents declare changes, such as becoming unemployed. Therefore, it is crucial to regularly monitor the Agreements section on your Childcare Offer for Wales Dashboard to ensure agreements remain active. We recommend checking this monthly.
Your timesheet will display all children with funding in place. If a child does not appear on the timesheet, Childcare Offer Wales funding will not be paid, and you must address this issue urgently.
As a provider, it is your responsibility to ensure that any childcare funding is secured before a child starts and continues into the next term. Early Years cannot reclaim any funding from the Welsh Government on your behalf if an application is no longer approved or if there is no active agreement in place.

We are thrilled to share the inspiring success story of Mighty Oaks Nursery in Blackwood. Under the leadership of Ceri Gwilt and Kelly Vokes, the nursery has recently launched a fantastic ‘outdoor classroom’ after weeks of hard work and collaboration with local businesses. This new space, complete with a gazebo, planters, sandbox, painting easel, and mud kitchen, provides a wonderful environment for children to learn and explore the outdoors.
We congratulate Mighty Oaks Nursery for their innovative approach, setting an excellent example of good practice. Congratulations to Ceri, Kelly, and all the local businesses involved in creating such a wonder space!

Did you know that clapping out syllables in words can help children with their talking and literacy?
Break down words into syllables or ‘beats’. Start with words made up of two words that the child knows like ‘snow-ball’ and ‘hair-brush’, then move onto more complicated words like ‘te-le-phone’ or ‘he-li-cop-ter’. This can support children to:
- Recognise where sounds come in words which helps them recognise words that are written down.
- Notice words that rhyme.
- Have a better awareness of sounds.
- Understand where one word stops and another begins.
This is phonological awareness: an important building block for clear speech and learning to read and write.
