Thank you to everyone who completed the Deri Community Voice survey. We had a fantastic response, and your ideas, comments and views have really helped us shape our plans to refurnish and reconfigure the library space.
You've asked us to install a disabled access toilet and washroom and we're more than happy to accommodate this. However please bear with us a little longer whilst this building work is carried out. Once completed, we'll then be able to refurnish the library and return the library services we know you've missed.
|
Update:
We're nearly ready to reopen and a date will be announced soon. Sadly due to vandalism of the library building, we have to delay reopening until the facility is health and safety compliant and safe for our customers and staff to use.
We want to take this opportunity to thank the Rhymney residents, community groups and organisations for your patience whilst the final preparations are completed. The new library is looking fantastic and we can't wait to offer you full use of this facility.
Please keep your eyes peeled for social media updates on Facebook and Twitter / X from CCBC, Caerphilly Library Service and the Caerphilly Cares teams.

Have you updated your Smartcard to a brand new library card?
If you haven't had the chance, please pop into your nearest library to receive your new card and allow us to update and check the details on your library account.
It's important your details are correct as we want to start a new service - sending you automated emails letting you know your books are due for return or that an item you've reserved is ready to collect at your local library.
Help us to help you.

Introducing Dan, Senior Library Assistant at Blackwood Library.
Dan has been with the Library service since 2019, first as a Supply Library Assistant, parachuting into libraries whenever they needed an extra pair of hands, slowly working his way up to the co-manager position he holds today, where he has a lot more responsibilities but at least he gets to sit in the same chair every week.
Dan loves the ever-changing challenge of working in the library, whether that be helping customers on the library computers, organising and promoting events or finding enough blue bricks for the swimming pool someone’s building at Lego Club.
And the fun doesn’t stop there, Dan also gets to test the fire alarm, cash up the till and open Blackwood’s big automatic roof (weather permitting).
Some of the things Dan has brought to Blackwood Library include two very popular World Cup sticker swaps, the return of Digital Skills classes (every Monday 10-12), a massive foam dice for Toddler Time (Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30-11:30) and, coming soon – Robotics Club! (Keep your eyes peeled on library social media for more information).
For any librarian spotters out there, you can find Dan on Thursdays, Fridays and every other Saturday.
