​New operator announced for Ffos Caerffili

A south Wales operator for Ffos Caerffili has today been revealed by Caerphilly Council. Brigadoon Ffos Ltd, the team behind Corporation Yard (Canton, Cardiff), Tramshed, and Mountain Ash Town Hall, will bring their expertise to the highly anticipated new market development.

Following discussions with prospective traders, who are gearing up for the busy festive period, Brigadoon Ffos Ltd and the council have made a collective decision to open Ffos Caerffili in January 2024.

The site, which is due for completion in November will house a total of 28 traders, including food and beverage, goods and services providers, and versatile office and co-working spaces. The shipping containers will be in place for the end of Octobe


Caerphilly Council asks tenants to give views on their rent

Housing Tenants Survey

Caerphilly County Borough Council is carrying out extensive consultation with its tenants to find out what they think about their rent.

Tenants are being asked to complete a short survey to tell the council if they believe their rent is fair and affordable.  The Council also wants to know more about how the cost-of-living crisis has affected its customers.

Everyone who takes part will be entered into a prize draw where one person will win £150 in shopping vouchers and another three people will win £60.


1000 new affordable homes approved by Cabinet

Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet has unanimously approved ambitious plans to deliver 1,000 new low carbon affordable homes over the next ten years to meet increasing local need.

The plans were approved as part of the ‘Development and Governance Strategy: ‘Building Together’. The strategy also proposes the establishment of a Development and Governance Project Board, which was agreed by Cabinet; whose role will be to oversee the development of the Council’s needs based, customer focused, ambitious development programme.


Partners LEAD the way to encourage responsible dog ownership

LEAD initiative

A new initiative to promote and encourage responsible dog ownership across the Caerphilly county borough has been launched.

The initiative, called LEAD (Local Environmental Awareness on Dogs), seeks to provide advice to the public on dog-related issues, as well as improving dog safety and welfare. It also deals with anti-social and inconsiderate behaviour by individuals with dogs in a way that protects and reassures the public.

​​Blackwood Publican Prosecuted for Failing to Provide Allergen Information

The Rock Pub

Paul Taylor the proprietor of the Rock Pub and Bed and Breakfast, Tredegar Road, Blackwood, Gwent NP12 1DD has been prosecuted for failing to provide allergen information contrary to the Food Information (Wales) Regulations 2014.

The sentencing follows an investigation by Caerphilly Council Trading Standards Service who were alerted to an incident that took place at the Rock Public House in August 22, where Taylor refused to provide allergen information to a milk hypersensitive member of the public who lives with a severe food allergy..

During the evening, winners were congratulated and presented with awards in the presence of the Lord Lieutenant of Gwent, the High Sheriff and the Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough Council.

The Welsh Government Minister for Local Government and Finance visited Ty Penallta to find out more about the ‘Mobilising Team Caerphilly’ programme.

Rebecca Evans MS was joined by the Leader and Chief Executive as she took time out of her busy schedule to discover how CCBC plans to improve and transform services in future.

The Minister had the opportunity to speak to programme leads and gain a clear understanding about the emerging themes and proposals that will change the way in which the council operates as we rethink and reshape the way we deliver our services to the community.
