Residents across the Caerphilly county borough are being encouraged to have their say and help shape the way the council delivers its services in future.
A public consultation has launched to gather feedback from the community about the council’s draft budget proposals for 2023/24.
The consultation will run until 8th February.
A dedicated webpage with links to the survey and detailed information about the budget proposals can be found here: www.caerphilly.gov.uk/caerphillyconversation
A series of face-to-face engagement sessions are planned, where residents can call in for a chat with council staff, as well as a number of online sessions where people can do the same.

Residents wishing to attend one of the online sessions are asked to e-mail publicengagement@caerphilly.gov.uk with the preferred date, and a link to attend the online session will be provided.
Caerphilly County Borough’s first Community Cooking Champion has come to an end after eight weeks of classes.
The Community Cooking Champion was launched in September 2022, as part of the Caerphilly Cares programme to help tackle food poverty and insecurity.
The course included eight weeks of cooking classes, prepared and taught by volunteers from CCBC’s catering staff as part of their corporate volunteer scheme and aimed to teach residents how to cook healthy, budget friendly meals from scratch. Participant also received recipe cards and a slow cooker to encourage them to continue cooking once the course is completed.

In recognition of the difficulties that residents are facing as a result of the ongoing Cost of Living crisis, Caerphilly County Borough Council in partnership with the community and voluntary sector is developing a network of Welcoming Spaces (also known as Warm Hubs) across the county borough.
Each Welcoming Space may look different, whether they choose to offer activities, support or even hot food and drink – but all will share the ethos of offering a warm place and a friendly face this winter.

The campaign is also designed to celebrate the hardworking care staff who make a difference to the lives of residents every day.
The campaign aims to shift perspectives on adult care as well as inspiring compassionate people to consider a caring role. Care in Caerphilly will underline the rewarding nature of care and showcase Caerphilly as a great place to work.

Caerphilly County Borough Council is beginning preparations to develop a new later living scheme on the site of the former Ty Darran care home in Risca.
Work has now begun to prepare the site, including measures to protect trees and clearance of vegetation. Site investigations are then planned, before demolition of the existing building takes place at the end of January.
When completed, the new scheme will be used to relocate existing Council contract holders from sheltered housing schemes in the locality that have been programmed for closure.
