​Caerphilly CBC unveils ambitious £80m ‘Levelling Up’ bids

The longest Alpine rollercoaster in the UK could be built at a popular tourist destination in the Caerphilly county borough, if ambitious plans being drawn up by the council are agreed by the UK Government.

Three exciting regeneration projects totalling £80.6million are set to be submitted to the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund by CCBC. The council’s Cabinet will meet next week (Wednesday 29th June) to consider a report which details the bids and their benefits to the community.

Caerphilly County Borough Council is looking for residents’ feedback on how natural areas within the county borough are managed, as green spaces are being left to grow during spring and summer months to benefit ecosystems as part of the Nature isn’t Neat project.

By letting areas of grassland grow, more wildflowers are left to flower for longer, providing a habitat for wildlife and pollinating insects like bees and butterflies.

The third winner of Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Mash for Cash campaign has been announced.

Karen Dear from Penyrheol has been announced as the third winner of Caerphilly County Borough’s Mash for Cash campaign.

The Mash for Cash campaign was launched in March 2022 in line with Food Waste Action Week with an aim to increase the number of residents currently recycling their food waste.


​Report illegal puppy breeding to Crimestoppers

Report illegal puppies

Residents and businesses are being urged to speak up about illegal puppy breeding and report it anonymously to Crimestoppers.

Trading Standards Wales and the charity Crimestoppers have joined forces to provide a service that enables members of the public to anonymously provide valuable information that can help tackle illegal puppy breeding.

It is the latest issue that the two organisations are working on to encourage members of the public to provide information on concerns they might have, 100% anonymously.


Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Live Vacancy Event returns

Which way now

Caerphilly County Borough Council’s popular Which Way Now? event is set to return on 12th July 2022.

In the past the event has attracted hundreds of young people who are seeking employment, education or training opportunities.

The event, which is in partnership with Careers Wales, is aimed at school leavers and young people aged 16-24 who are looking for advice and inspiration on what career path to take next.


Five year Welsh Language Strategy launched at Ffiliffest Event

Ffiliffest, an event held in Caerphilly which celebrated the Welsh language and heritage, saw a five year Welsh Language Strategy for 2022-2027 launched.

Local authorities in Wales are required to produce a local Welsh Language Strategy that sets out how they will promote the use of the Welsh language and increase the number of Welsh speakers in their area..

Covid-19 Update

After a rise of Covid-19 cases across Wales, access to free LFD tests will be extended until July 31st 2022. Tests will be available to those showing symptoms of coronavirus, for those eligible for COVID-19 treatments, and for people visiting someone eligible for COVID-19 treatments.

If you are visiting any of our hospitals, please wear a mask and clean your hands on entering the building and as often as possible using soap and water or hand sanitiser.
